What is a True Home Theater?
There seems to be some confusion in this term, which is solely created by, unfortunately, many of our own colleagues and box stores.
- Soundbar; A Soundbar, while levels better than the TV speaker is NOT a Home Theater System. Great Sound? Some sound simply amazing and we are big fans. But this is not a Home Theater.
- Surround Sound; Take a TV and strategically place speakers around the room with a proper setup and this is even levels higher than a Soundbar, but, yes, still NOT a Home Theater System.
A True Home Theater system is an investment in Accuracy.
- This is always a dedicated room where the ambient lighting is low and controlled.
- This room has a large screen for full impact using either SMPTE specifications of 26 degree viewing angle or THX (our preference) viewing angle of 36 degrees.
- A true Home Theater is having this dedicated room acoustically damped.
- A true Home Theater uses speakers placed critically for optimum soundtrack reproduction.
- A true Home Theater is paying strict attention to Audio & Video calibrations and setup.
